Due to the phenomenal success of the charity’s skin surveillance training, Skcin has been appointed to City & Guilds Industry Advisory Board.

Over the past 2 years, Skcin have trained nearly 7,000 hair and beauty professionals through their e-learning website, Masced; the charity are working to get training included into the national standards for the hair and beauty sector. Due to their success and the vital work they do, CEO Marie Tudor has been appointed to the Industry Advisory Board with City and Guilds. Tudor says “Skcin are hugely proud of this achievement and the impact this is having on a national scale with 100s of cases of skin cancer detected early, and lives saved”.

The training provided by Skcin helps hair and beauty professionals identify the signs and symptoms of skin cancer and melanoma. The charity are keen to see the training made mandatory for all staff working within our sector, as it is clear that early detection can save lives, as well as mitigate the costs to the NHS.

The hair and beauty industry has a powerful role to play due to the unique relationships industry professionals have with their clients. The inclusion of national standards which cover this vital topic will mean that many more lives can be saved.
