Official Government Guidelines for the British hair and beauty industry

by | Jun 24, 2020

British Beauty Council has received Government guidelines for the confirmed re-opening of hair salons from the 4th of July.

The PM announced yesterday that hairdressers and barbers will be able to open, but insisted that there is still no specific reopening date for close contact services such as beauty salons, nail bars, or spas.

Our Government source has commented

“As it stands, beauty and related businesses and activities are not allowed and no date has been confirmed for when this decision will be reviewed.

In terms of why hairdressing and not beauty, the answer is because the Government is taking a phased, cautious approach to reopening the economy to ensure that we limit the spread of the virus. This means that choices have had to be made as to which businesses to reopen as part of the next phase.

Appreciate that this will be disappointing for some people who had anticipated starting back from 4 July. The important thing though is to get the message out that beauty and other services not related to hairdressing should not be operating.”
