COVID-19: PM Announces Tier 4 for England

Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced at a press conference this afternoon (19/12/2020), the introduction of a Tier 4 for England.

DISCLAIMER: Accurate at the time of posting, but these guidelines may change, and are updated in accordance with frequent consultations we have with government as part of their COVID-19 taskforce.

 

The fourth Tier is being introduced due to the growing concerns about the spread of a new variant of the virus. Tier 4 will be introduced to areas of England from the morning of 20th December.

 

What areas are entering Tier 4? 

 

BBC News reports that the following areas are to move to Tier 4 from tomorrow:

  • South East, covering Kent, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey (excluding Waverley), Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Rother and Hastings
  • London (all 32 boroughs and the City of London)
  • East of England (Bedford, Central Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough, Hertfordshire, Essex (excluding Colchester, Uttlesford and Tendring)

 

What does Tier 4 mean for Personal Care?

 

All non-essential retail and personal care businesses must close in Tier 4 areas from tomorrow morning .

 

UPDATE (20:00 19/12/2020): 

 

Following consultation with Government, we can update you with the following:

  • Regulations will be published soon, and all will be law
  • Tier 4 is a blanket Stay at Home message
  • We are waiting for the position on Weddings, Medics, MUA and Hair Film/TV, Session and Education to be finalised
