Changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme from September

by | Sep 2, 2020

The Government is gradually reducing how much it pays for furlough workers. The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme was introduced in March to help employers retain workers who they may have had to let go during the Covid-19 pandemic.

From September 1st, the Job Retention Scheme will now pay 70% of usual wages up to cap of £2,187.50 per month for the hours furlough staff do no work.Employers will top up employees’ wages to ensure they receive 80% (up to £2,500). The caps are proportional to the hours not worked. You can read more information about the changes here.
